When the HRASTNIK1860 Shines Through Children’s Eyes
Hrastnik, 23 June 2026 – In early June, Steklarna Hrastnik once again opened its doors to employees’ children, offering them a unique opportunity to explore the world of glassmaking, innovation and creativity. Through a carefully planned and safety-focused programme, more than 40 young visitors discovered the glass manufacturing process, learned about various professions within the company, and gained insight into the technologies behind premium glass packaging.
The event began in front of the administration building, where local firefighters welcomed the children with their vehicles and equipment. The young visitors had the opportunity to learn more about the firefighters’ work and even try their hand at putting out imaginary fires. Following a welcome address from the company’s management, the children embarked on a tour of the production facilities, where they followed the journey of glass from molten material in the furnace to the creation of a finished bottle.
Particular interest was sparked during the visit to the production lines, where the children learned about quality control procedures and discovered the importance of safety and maintaining the highest quality standards. The tour continued into the world of 3D technologies, mould design and development, as well as the diverse possibilities of glass decoration and finishing.
After the tour, the children participated in a creative workshop, where they decorated glass items with acrylic markers and produced a variety of unique creations. Part of the programme was also dedicated to raising awareness about sustainability, the responsible use of natural resources and the principles of a circular economy.
»Events like these provide an excellent opportunity to introduce younger generations to the world of industry, technology and innovation, while showing them how everyday products are made. Their curiosity, enthusiasm and creativity continue to inspire us,« said representatives of HRASTNIK1860, a member of the Vaider Group.
Through initiatives such as this, the company continues to strengthen its connection with the local community, encourage interest in technical professions and bring the world of glassmaking closer to future generations. At the same time, it helps foster a greater understanding of modern industry and opens the door to the knowledge, technology and creativity that shape the future.
