Background
The JRE bottle RE ◦ water is a prestigious, superbly designed and at the same time ecological and sustainable glass packaging that respects the valuable content it carries.
It all started with two ideas – Slovenian tap water is well known as one of the world’s best quality water, and it’s the most commonly served drink in restaurants. This was the original idea that led Steklarna Hrastnik and the Slovenian association JRE which presents 19 of the most prominent representatives in fine cuisine, to develop a bottle that will give water high-end packaging, the kind it deserves.
JRE bottle is made from the cleanest glass, and the choice of material is not a coincidence.
Water is a world traveller that is constantly circulating and never leaving Earth. We could say that water is recycled and returned in a different form. Likewise, glass as a material can be completely recycled and reused without compromising its quality. Sustainable resource management is one of the fundamental pillars of our strategy, the global business partner in developing and producing state-of-the-art glass packaging.
Solution
The JRE bottle RE ◦ water is a prestigious, superbly designed, practical, ecological and sustainable glass packaging that respects its valuable content.
When designing the bottle, we developed a unique punt that takes advantage of the refracting light in the glass and premiumize the bottle and the brand. Punt has created illusion and visual effects that give bottles a touch of water’s purity and the reflection of water. It also provides the bottle with a style, cohesiveness, and emphasis, strengthening a visual impact and creating aesthetic enjoyment due to the optical reflection caused by the punt, water shimmers when the bottle is moved – just like how the water is moving in nature. It is also a symbolic representation of the regional diversity of water and because of the weight at the bottom, it ensures great stability.
The design of the bottle shape is minimalist. The width of the bottle is emphasized at the top, further suggesting the strength and significance of its contents. The wider top also makes practical sense as the bottles are suitable for low energy machine washing and thus a design product that is used daily in the most eminent restaurants in Slovenia, and soon also in restaurants in Europe.
