Finalist of the German Economy Award
In May this year, Steklarna Hrastnik was ranked among the finalists for the German Economy Award in the field of corporate social responsibility in the industry 4.0 environment. The prize competition was organised by the Slovenian – German Chamber of Commerce. Our glasswork was highly ranked mainly due to the investments in production and care for employees and the local environment. At the celebratory event, the recognition for being among the finalists was graciously accepted by Jaša Polutnik, the head of the project on transition to a smart factory in glasswork.
In the past eight years, we have chosen the best automation and digitisation of production among the available technologies on the market, which we adjusted to the specific needs of our production with our own knowledge. In this way, we have managed to reduce water consumption in the tableware production unit by 55 percent, NOx emission by 75 percent, dust particle emission by 35 percent, and CO2 emission by just under 30 percent. In packing glass, we reduced NOx emission by 25 percent, CO2 emission by 10 percent, and urban water consumption by 40 percent. With investments, the automation and digitisation of production, we reduce our environmental footprint, improve working conditions, and thus create future jobs.
We continuously invest in education – each year we invest half a million euros in the education of our employees. Steklarna Hrastnik carries out educational activities in order to provide competences for work in the industry 4.0 environment. We also share the successful operation of Steklarna Hrastnik with the local community through sponsorships and donations. In the past six years, we have invested EUR 401,478 in various sponsorships and donations.
