Chopin Family Reserve is the world’s first rested, super-premium young potato vodka. Naturally gluten-free, Family Reserve features a special variety of young potatoes that were planted during the 2016 growing season in the rich, dark soil of the estate fields surrounding the distillery. The potatoes were harvested when they were still young, producing a sweeter tasting profile with delicate earthy notes. The spirit was then left undisturbed in fifty-year-old Polish oak barrels for two years to allow time for it to rest and mellow before being bottled, by hand. All the potatoes used in Family Reserve are naturally grown without chemicals or pesticides on the Chopin distillery estate grounds. It is also ideal for sipping chilled neat, over the rocks, in martinis or signature cocktails.

Chopin is a boutique, family-owned, craft distillery that produces artisanal spirits and liqueurs. It is widely regarded as the world’s top vodka distillers, Chopin Vodka is distilled from local ingredients grown in a pristine district of eastern Poland (100km east of Warsaw) and the entire distillation process – from growing, cooking, fermenting, and distilling raw ingredients, to bottling – is carefully tended on the Dorda family property.

Choosing Hrastnik1860

“Packaging, for us, is very important because we believe that the consumer evaluates a given product through the prism of packaging and builds his image of a given brand. The role of packaging design affects sales, it is also important in the case of impulse buying, we are visual learners and the crucial thing is the first impression that the packaging makes. The insights are vital. We also believe that design and innovative solutions are a way to distinguish a product from many others, giving the brand an individuality. The original image is also a way to differentiate products on the market.” says Management of Chopin Vodka.

The main factor why we picked Hrastnik1860 for this project was outside partner’s recommendation promising that Hrastnik1860 will meet the expectations, and is worth trusting. This was of great importance here, however the costs of implementation and the unit price were also vital.

Super premium bottle

Family Reserve is presented in a padded, leatherette, black box with embossed product details. The interior includes a comprehensive booklet describing the distillery, the spirit, and tasting notes. The unique, elegant bottle has been specially designed for Chopin Vodka with the goal of being a precious keepsake that you want to keep forever.

On the outside, with its shape, the bottle of Chopin Family Reserve immediately impresses with the exquisite grooves on its sides. But when we look closer, It impresses with more details, especially with the intricate label and aluminum elements that help give it the supreme premium look.

From the glassmaker’s standpoint, the challenges were definitely present with the embossed grooves that might affect mold opening. No negative angles and considerably thick bottoms also meant the amount of precision was on the highest level when making this super-premium bottle. The latter also meant that this super white flint glass would fit all the aluminum add-ons and labelling.
